  Boston MA:  PUBLIC GARDEN

#001 public garden, bird's eye view

#002 public garden, suspension bridge

1) Bird's eye view:  The Public Garden has twenty-four acres. Planted with rare trees, gay with flowers and swan boats in summer, skaters in winter, and statues and people at all seasons, it is much loved by Bostonians. (Photo and text from "The Boston Book", by Arthur Griffin (photos) and Esther Forbes (text), c1947)

2) Suspension Bridge: In the center of the Garden is this suspension bridge, said to be the smallest in the world and a microscopic copy of Brooklyn Bridge in New York. It, like the swan boats and the geometric flower gardens and even some of the statues, has something of the quality of a bright, old-fashioned toy. (Photo and text from "The Boston Book", by Arthur Griffin (photos) and Esther Forbes (text), c1947)

3) Swan Boats, Public Garden:  (From "Boston Landmarks", a book by M. A. DeWolfe Howe, c1946)

4) A watery view soon to come.
