A Study Of . . . Washington NJ / Aerial View Of School On Carlton Ave, #015

#015 aerial view of school on carlton ave

A unique perspective on education.  The original section of this school, that being the two-storey "U"-shaped section directly behind the driveway circle, was finished in 1932, but by 1949, it was time to grow. A two-storey addition was added to the left of the main section and included an agricultural shop, an art department, and a commercial department. Nine years later in 1958, more space was needed, so another addition was approved that nearly doubled the size of the school, and included twelve classrooms, a gym, and a library, all being built to the right of the original structure.  (Picture and information from the "Washington New Jersey Centennial History And Program"; caption by Thomas Allen Kelley)
